Datasets are data that has been loaded into a project. You only see data for a project, not by user or organization. Any data loaded into a project can only be seen by that project and users who have access to that project.
Datasets can be BIM models, CAD files or GIS layers. The datasets list gives you information about each dataset and it's status. Columns include the dataset name, numbers of records in that dataset and it's status. The status shows importing and conversion information. A large BIM model may take a couple minutes to convert and this will show the current status of that conversion
Editing a Dataset
To edit a dataset, select the dataset by clicking the check box on the left. When selected, the edit button becomes active and you can then edit the name of the dataset. For example, change roads.shp to Roads.
Delete a Dataset
To delete dataset, select the dataset(s) by clicking the check box on the left. When selected, the delete button becomes active and you can then delete the dataset(s) you wish.
View Dataset Metadata
To see metadata about a dataset, select the dataset by clicking on the check box on the left. When selected, the View button becomes active and you can then view the metadata on a dataset.
Metadata includes fields (a list of all the fields for query), statistics including area and bounds. When data is loaded into Smart World, we tag it with its place automatically. This is used in Asq when you might want to see, "All parks in New York, NY". We use this place name to quickly return the data. If you wish to see how a dataset has been tagged, this is where you view it.
Loading Datasets into Map
Datasets are loaded via an Asq query. To load a dataset, double click on it in the list. This will put an Asq query into the Asq bar.
At this point you can just hit enter and the dataset will be loaded as a layer. You can also modify the Asq query by using SQL statements. This is covered in more detail in the Asq documentation.
If the dataset is a 3D Model, the model will appear in your window and you can place it using the placement controls.
